Ilkley, UK: Privately printed for sale at the Ilkley Literature Festival, April 23-28, 1973, at the Janus Press, 1973. Pp. 37, with scarce erratum slip loosely inserted, facsimile of the original edition partly printed by Stephen Spender at his home in Frognal, Hampstead. There were many amateur compositor's mistakes, and after page 23, when Spender's patience gave out, the rest was finished by the Holywell Press, Oxford and bound in reddish orange wrappers which is also copied; with the separate staple-bound four-leaf introduction by B.C. Bloomfield with the Janus logo on lower cover; both housed in a rich avacado printed folder. A very faint green date-stamp of Dec 30 1974 to lower cover of introduction booklet, else mint copy. Bloomfield states that only about thirty copies of the original were finally completed and that Auden excluded most of them from his "Collected Shorter Poems, 1927-1957". Also, "The manuscript corrections which can be seen throughout the facsimile are in Spender's hand and are present in other copies, but the erratum slip, printed by the Holywell Press, is not always present.
