(lacks the descriptive text used as title page usually mounted to upper board, replaced with a hand colored lithograph titled Pompei) Dedication page "A Sue Eccellenza Don Domenico Spinelli" Napoli dated Marzo, 30 1858, Carlo Ceci. 1 full page color plate, 21 hand colored lithographs mounted on 11 leaves (two per leaf) with the first plate mounted singularly. Following these plates are 13 more hand tinted plates depicting brass utensils, tools, small child's carriages, jewelry, etc. with 10 pages of descriptive text in French and Italian. Bound in ¾ black morocco over brown cloth, hand colored lithograph mounted to upper board, spine flat and ruled in gilt, cloth on rear board has sustained some water staining but without penetration through board. This copy contains the three extra hand tinted plates.An increasingly scarce work.

Venetiis: Ex typographia Remondini, 1751. Hardcover. See Description. 12mo. pp. 143, [1]. Title page is printed in red and black. Bound in modern quarter brown cloth with brown patterned paper boards. The edges of the leaves are untrimmed and ragged. The interior displays some marginal soiling and wear with occasional chipping and corner creasing. A tear on the lower part of page 19 is professionally and neatly sealed. The upper corner to the final leaf of the index is chipped/torn perhaps affecting a few numbers or letters. The imprint statement on the title page contains some rubbing which obstructs two letters in the word "typographia." A few brief instances of marginalia are written in a miniscule old hand. The corner of the head cap is neatly patched. Generally this is a well read copy. Cornelius Nepos (c. 99-24 b.c.e) was a Roman writer and historian.
