About This Item

Damiani, Bologna, 2013. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). New Book/No Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. VAN DE ROER, CARLO. The Portrait Machine Project, Italy: Damiani, 2013. Quarto, first edition, unpaginated, gray cloth boards with white lettering stamped on spine and a multicolored glossy label mounted on front, 34 color plates, signed by the photographer on the half-title. Val Williams explains in the introduction that Van de Roer used an Aura camera, which captures biofeedback from the person being photographed, so that the print shows the person and the biofeedback he or she is giving off. The aura is like a colored fog obscuring the person. Van de Roer seems to be saying we are all obscured from one another. Subjects here are nude or clothed, upper body only, with color plates and diagrammatic information on facing or verso pages. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. Category: Photography; United States; Modern; New Age & Alternative. Signed by Author. ISBN/EAN: 9788862082686.
