NY: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1900. Hard Cover. First ediiton thus, the second American edition (which is the first revised edition "with additional matter"). Edited and with a prefactory dedication by Robert Ross. Small octavo in light blue paper covered boards and spine strip, lettered in gilt, top edge gilt. Frontispiece portrait drawing of Wilde in 1882 by Kelly. In addition to Ross' prefactory dedication, contains "Four Letters Written From reading Prison", "De Profundis (with Additional Matter)" and "Two Letters to the Daily Chronicle on Prison Life". A tight, near fine copy, gilt lettering still bright; front board is lightly sunned to about 2" from the front edge. Touch of wear to one tip.

Synopsis

Oscar Wilde wrote this while in prison to his friend and lover Lord Alfred Douglas. This love letter is a profound look into the personal life of Oscar. Please Note: This book has been reformatted to be easy to read in true text, not scanned images that can sometimes be difficult to decipher.
