Interestingly, there is a one page advertisement between the two: "Catalogue des livres nouvelles imprimees chez Pierre Mortier. Tightly bound. Full Leather binding is intact, but needs treatment (appropriate oils/leather treatments? mostly on the spine). Pages are foxed, but supple (remarkably well preserved for something that has existed for more than 300 years).

Each volume was illustrated in watercolor and pencil sketches by Georges Pavis (1886-1951), French painter, illustrator, and humorist containing his charming and erotically light-hearted illustrations to Ronsard's love poems originally published in 1584. This special set contains 30 original illustrations in rich watercolor and 30 matching original preliminary pencil sketches of the watercolor nudes, lovers, seductions, and other whimsical erotic endeavors, bound in at the rear. Spines have five raised bands, red morocco title labels, compartments ornately decorated in gilt. Some marking and slight worming to boards. Spines rubbed with slight wear to head and foot. A couple of volumes have slight cracking to joints but all boards are firmly attached. Gilt decorated board edges and turn-ins. All page edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Very tight bindings in excellent overall condition. Clean pages throughout. French language. All 30 plates are present and in first class condition (one plate in Vol. V has been bound in upside down.) A rare and important early edition of Molière's works, reproducing the 1682 first collected edition. An excellent example, complete with all plates and in attractive contemporary bindings. The author of this first comprehensive treatise on administration was a prominent French lawyer and politician of the mid-19th Century. A member of the Chambre des Députés, his book is based on a two-part article he contributed to the Revue des Deux Mondes 1841. It appears that most copies of this first edition were destroyed by fire. A second, enlarged edition appeared in 1852 in 2 vols.
