  • Hardcover

1847, Second Edition. An interesting account of Mexico by Waddy Thompson (1798-1868), who served as the U.S. Minister there for two years, 1842-1844, and who reached several important agreements with the Mexicans, including one that would no longer exclude American immigrants from California. He writes about life and culture in Mexico, yellow fever, Santa Ana's career, the Alamo, Kendall's expedition and "Texian Conflicts," among other things.Slight rubbing along joints. Hinges tight. Widespread mild foxing, not interfering with legibility of text. Original blind-stamped green cloth, gilt lettering. Label from Social Library of the town of Wiscasset pasted inside front cover. Sabin 95537; Graff 4137.
