About This Item
E Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A.: Putnam Pub Group, 1986. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Tom Clancy's second novel pits the U.S. against the U.S.S.R. in a plot involving Middle East oil. Correct full number line sequence. No writing, marks, or underlining. No remainder marks. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. This is a beautiful copy that appears to be unread with crisp, clean pages that have minimal, almost imperceptible, browning to the edges. There is also a bookplate of a previous owner on the front pastedown endpaper. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but is lightly faded on the spine and shows some minor browning on the top of the inside flaps. The jacket also has a small (1/4") tear along the lower spine. Otherwise there is very little shelf wear to the jacket. This highly collectible, very good +, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. This is a great opportunity to own one of the late author's early works. Satisfaction guaranteed!
Synopsis
Red Storm Rising is a 1986 techno-thriller novel by Tom Clancy and Larry Bond about a Third World War in Europe between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces, set around the mid-1980s. Though there are other novels dealing with a fictional World War III, this one is notable for the way in which numerous settings for the action — from Atlantic convoy duty to shooting down reconnaissance satellites to tank battles in Germany — all have an integral part to play on the outcome.
