The 1973 printing was a limited edition. A collection of Stein's uncollected writings edited by late UCLA educator and Stein researcher Robert Haas. Her comment on the atom bomb? ". . . it's the living that are interesting and not the way of killing them, because if there were not a lot left living how could there be any interest in destruction. Alright, that is the way I feel about it." Her conclusion to the second volume, "How writing is written," is about the fact that artists and writers step out of the contemporary and occupy another space in time.
