Melzo fornisce dettagliati consigli su come formare un corpo di cavalleria, sulla marcia, sugli alloggiamenti, sui vettovagliamenti, sulle disposizioni e ordini di battaglia, sul come combattere la fanteria, sulla carica, le imboscate, le guarnigioni, le spie, la spartizione dei bottini.
