Edmonton:: Sean Caulfield,, 2020.. Edition of 8. 18" x 14.5" closed. Accordion structure extending from front pastedown. Medium: relief (linocut) and letterpress on Hahnemühle. Bound in Japanese silk with ribbon tie closure. Book design and typography by Sue Colberg. Numbered. Signed by the collaborators. Sean Caulfield: "'Watercircle' was produced through a collaborative process between Sean Caulfield (visual artist), Case Caulfield (writer), and Sue Colberg (book designer). To initiate the work, Sean Caulfield drew thematic inspiration from the North Saskatchewan River, which is a major feature in the landscape of Treaty 6 Territory and is the historical and contemporary heart of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In reflecting on the landscape shaped by the river, Sean Caulfield created a large-format linocut that explored themes of ecological change and regeneration of the landscape and the individuals who inhabit it. Description:
1941. SCHWARTZ, Delmore. SHENANDOAH. Norfolk, CT: New Directions, (1941). "Poet of the Month" series. First edition. This verse drama deals with a family's quarrel over the naming of a son, Shenandoah Fish, which is obviously analogous Schwartz's name, about which he was quite sensitive. Inscribed to the poet Theodore Morrison. "Ted, from Delmore, October 1941." Illustrated by Frederico Castellon. Printed by George Hornby at The Domesday Press, New York City. 28 pp. 8vo., plain paper wrappers, wire saddle stitch. In a dark blue dust jacket, illustrated on the upper wrapper in grey-blue. Internally clean and fine; however, the dust jacket is sunned at perimeters and on the lower panel, with some light edgewear. Inscribed copies by Schwartz are uncommon, and this is a very good copy, inscribed by him.

Description:
First edition, limited print run. Edith Sitwell was a British poet and critic. Sitwell equated quietness in the female artist as a failure of female nerve: "a woman's problem in writing poetry is different to a man's... I had to learn everything –learn, amongst other things, not to be timid... And I think that I started getting the thing into very strict limits it might bear the marks of a return to timidity." [Telegraph] This work was the author's first work and part of a print run of around 500, and it was extremely well received. "But in all of these poems one thing is clear. They come from within. Miss Sitwell does not describe, she lives in her verse."
Softcover, 8vo, 19 pages. Original wraps. Edges are worn, with some slight tearing. Spine is slightly worn nevertheless, binding is holding tightly together. Some fading on the cover. Very slight foxing throughout, but overall in good condition.

Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows…) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love. It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions… Read More
