New York: Stein and Day, 1971. This quality BOMC edition is in Fine, unread condition, with a close to Fine dust jacket. (Click on photo.) The dust jacket has a small tear on the upper front panel, repaired on the reverse. The authors have taken not only previously published contemporary accounts of the 1906 earthquake, but many never-published-before eyewitness accounts as well, exposing the real villains and heroes. Also included are the accounts of celebrities in San Francisco at the time of the quake and subsequent fire, such as Enrico Caruso, Jack London, and John Barrymore. The book is bound in black boards with a reddish-brown spine cloth and gilt spine titles. The endpapers are maps of the city, showing the fire's spread. The book includes numerous period photographs. The book measures 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches and includes 316 pages. . Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
