Description:
In Verona, Per A. Scolari. 1749-1750. Hard Cover. The first three volumes of what was eventually an eight-volume set. Vol I: 4 p.l., 388 p.; Vol II: [6], 395-838, [2] p.; Vol. III: 325, [326-327] pages; illustrations; quarto; 27 cm. These historical notices of the churches of Verona are concerned with their architectural history and the paintings and other artwork contained in each. Biancolini published his most significant documents in these early volumes. He continued to add to this foundation and published volumes through the eighth, which appeared in 1771. Schlosser-Magnino (p. 567) calls for 7 volumes, but the most complete set we could find, the one in the Avery Collection at Columbia, has eight in nine volumes. This is a foundation source for the study of architecture in Verona. Very good, untrimmed copy in contemporary cardboard. Stock#OB120.

Description:
The Lion and Unicorn Press, London, 1975. Book. Very Good. Soft cover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. First edition, limited to just 100 numbered copies, signed by both Casson and Betjeman on the first leaf (this being #9). Designed by Nigel Paige and produced and printed at the Royal College of Art, London. 4to. Unpaginated. Card wrappers with a wire spiral binding at the upper edge (and thereby resembling an artist's sketchbook). Twenty-five watercolour sketches, originally commissioned by 'The Illustrated London News', with drawing captions and both Betjeman's two-page introduction and Casson's brief preface reproduced in facsimile of the author's holograph. The lower edges lightly spotted, encroaching just a fraction to occasional leaf margins, and with just a hint of very faint soiling to the upper wrapper. Very good indeed. Gammond 75S12 / Peterson B137..

London: REAL, 2017. Limited Edition Hardcover. Fine/no dj, as issued. Hardcover. Fine. The first ever publication on Mansion House Square, modernist architect Mies van der Rohe's only design for the UK. In the early 1960s, the modernist architect Mies van der Rohe designed a spectacular amber glass and steel office tower for the City of London. If completed it would have been his only project in Britain. But after two decades of planning, the building was cancelled, amidst political intrigue and controversy. For almost forty years, the project archive has been inaccessible and unpublished, as the commissioner Lord Peter Palumbo (a well-known developer and patron of architecture in the UK) held the only copies of all Mies' work. Now the REAL foundation has managed to get exclusive access to this material (in collaboration with RIBA, the Royal Institute of British Architects. This high-quality publication comes with exceptionally reproduced drawings and images - including never-before-seen plans,…

Casa del HerreroHouse of the Blacksmithstands today as one of the most fully developed and intact examples of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. It was designed and built between 1922 and 1925 as a second house for George Fox Steedman, a St. Louis industrialist. Thought principally to be the work of George Washington Smith, the architect, Steedman himself generated many ideas during the initial design phase that were both a blessing and curse to Smith. Steedmans vision prevailed, and throughout the decade following the houses initial completion, he continued to rework both house and garden, engaging the architects Lutah Maria Riggs, Edwards, Plunkett & Howell, and Floyd Brewster, and garden… Read More
