The binding is lightly soiled & foxed. 30 pages plus colophon. Black-and-white illustrations including a folding chart & 2 folding maps. Very good.

First separate edition. Offprint from the bulletin of the Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa, January-June,1962.

Inscribed by the author to cartographer Vincent Kotschar who drew the maps for this pamphlet and who also illustrated Karl Turekian's "Oceans" and Hance's "Source Areas of Export Production in Tropical Africa: "To Vincent, with thankful feelings for his good drawing of the maps. ISVD". There is a faded author's compliments stamp at the top of the front cover.

There are a few of Van Dongen's ink corrections in the text, which is in English, with a summary in Portuguese at the rear.
