Hardcover. 9 1/2" X 7 1/4". xv, 122pp. Bound in a scurvy-curing lime green cloth over soft, flexible boards, with upper board and spine lettered in black. Mild wear to binding, with edgewear, bumping to corners, hint of fraying to head of spine, and light scattered dust soiling and rubbing. Bookseller's ticket of Harold Reeves: Music and Musical Books of London to front pastedown and stamp of "sole selling agents" Walsh Homes & Co. of Charing Cross Road to title page. Foxing and light soiling to endpapers and small faint dampstain to flyleaves and frontispiece. Binding is firm and sound. Pages are clean and unmarked. A solid and overall quite attractive 1926 fifth edition of this collection of sea songs and shanties, illustrated throughout. CW: the publisher's preface to this edition uses the N-word when referring to the Black sailors who possibly coined the term "shanty songs.
