Akron: The Saalfield Publishing Company, 1935. Hardcover. 24mo. Glossy pictorial paper over boards. (Ca. 100pp), (2pp ads). Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Faintest of edgewear; front joint a tad rough but expertly archivally strengthened. A tight and nice first edition of No. 1115 in the "Little Big Book" series (derivative of the popular "Big Little Book" series), a 1935 film drama directed by David Butler and starring Temple, John Boles, Jack Holt, Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and others and set on a Southern plantation during the Civil War. Based on a 1914 play of the same title by Edward Peple. Front and rear boards both feature color images of Temple from the film.

Based on Mildred Gilman's 1931 novel, about Jane Ray (Linda Watkins), a reporter whose great rival is news-hound Garry Webster (James Dunn) who never lets his love for her get in the way of landing a story. Jane is eventually kidnapped, rescued not by Garry but by a six-year-old named Billy Stotesley (future "Our Gang" member Wally Albright).
