Chapel Hill, NC: October 11, 1943., 1943.. Very good. - A printed 3-3/8 inch high by 2-1/2 inch wide card, illustrated with a Forgrave cartoon, is signed in black ink below the printed image "Les Forgrave". Together with the mailing envelope which is also signed "Les Forgrave" on the verso. The envelope is lightly soiled. The card is in fine condition.

Forgrave is sending the signed card illustrated with the printed head-and-shoulders cartoon image of a sailor to James Bowman, a teacher who collected autographed items for his class.

Leslie Forgrave was the creator and initial artist of the newspaper comic strip "Big Sister". He drew the strip from 1928 to 1954 when it was taken over by Bob Naylor. In 1942-43 Forgrave was the writer of the "Aladdin Junior" strip for William Meade Prince.
