London: The Nine Elms Press, 1986. First Edition Limited No. 131 of 350 copies SIGNED by the author. 8vo. 32, [4] pp. Bibliography. Mauve and lilac Morris 'Willow' pattern paper wrappers with lilac title label on front cover. Sir Emery Walker was an English engraver, photographer and printer, early socialist, friend and collaborator of William Morris, T. J. Cobden-Sanderson, Sir Sydney Cockerell, Bruce Rogers, County Harry Kessler and many others. Walker set up his own printing enterprise, the Doves Press, with bookbinder T. J. Cobden Sanderson which in turn inspired the private presses of the 20th century. The fall-out of the partners resulted in Cobden-Sanderson throwing the font they created into the Thames. Walker took an active role in many organisations that were at the heart of the Arts and Crafts movement, including the Art Workers Guild, the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society.
