Slavery Pictures From the Depths Rare First Edition 1905 by Bart Kennedy - 1905

1852 softcover pamphlet discussing the downside of tobacco. When I got this the cover was off. Volume has had some restoration: cover is backed with matching paper and is reattached. Paper and binding are fragile but overall readable with a gentle touch. Primary defect is the corner off the front page. Interior has foxing and stains but no vandalism. I think the author comes out of the same group that published Solomon Spittle (which I also have listed). 1852 is the first year this was published but this is titled "Fourth Thousand" so this is an early printing. Has 8 plates that are included in pagination. 179 pages, complete as issued. An uncommon item generally found in poor condition. This is decent not great (which sometimes is the best you can do). Topic is health problems of tobacco. Discusses addiction, acute toxicity, chronic health problems including heart and lung disease as well as problems of second hand smoke. Feel free to inquire. Black cloth, green printed paper label. Printed in purple. Lightly soiled, rubbed at edges and extremities. Text block pulling slightly at stitches. Else, internally clean and bright. A very good copy of a handsome edition. Comprising 'The Master,' 'The Disciple,' 'The House of Judgement,' 'The Doer of Good' and 'The Artist', all of which were originally published in the July 1894 issue of The Fortnightly Review (along with 'The Teacher of Wisdom').
