About This Item
Grosset & Dunlap. Very Good+ in Poor Dust Jacket. 1929. Hardcover. From rear DJ panel: "the fragile and beautiful sequel to "skippy", this book is a collection of random letters of a small boy, Skippy, to Sooky, which, in philosophy and pathos, represent the very height of contemporary humour. All 7 tipped-in illustrations by the author are present. Very hard to find with DJ. Edgewear is minimal with the minor exception of head and heel of spine, the second page in the book has been torn out so I don't know what page it was. Title page, copyright page, frontispiece and front free endpaper still present. This torn-out page was between the ffep and illustrated frontispiece and I suspect it was a second ffep which had a signature on it (you can see the mirror image on the first ffep. DJ is chipped and torn, and has the list of other G&D children's books listed on the back. DJ was taped back together on the underside. All the 'enclosed' letters on front of DJ have been penciI-shadowed in. Now in new mylar to prevent further damage. Binding is square and tight and text block is clean. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 124 pages; 28236 .
