Miniscule rubbing is present to the extremities. Interior pages are fresh and clean. An English gift inscription dated "Christmas 1925" is written on a front free fly-leaf; the same fly-leaf contains a strip of minor rubbing/chaffing where an old Christmas card (now loosely inserted) was mounted. Anatole France (1844-1924) was a French journalist and novelist. In 1921 he won the Nobel Prize in literature. His play "La comédie de celui qui épousa une femme muette" was first published in 1908.

Extremely rare volume of poetry and essays by the early 19th century French author, poet and literary figure, Delphine de Girardin née Gay. This small (4.5 in. x 2.75 in.) volume is over 180 years old and is in excellent condition. Quarter bound in green leather and marbled paper. The spine is embossed with gilt scrollwork, title and author. The hinge is tight and the pages slightly yellowed with age, but still in fine, readable condition. Red Silk bookmark is still attached and faded only on the surface outside the book. No internal markings, bookplates or tears to pages. A remarkably preserved book for its age!
