About This Item

Houston, Texas: Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1968. Book. Good. Soft cover. First Edition. Stiff, pictorial covers, hole-punched in the upper-left corner. The paper at the tail of the spine is peeled back about half an inch. Some creasing near the fore-edge in the same area of the covers and a number of pages, indicating a pressure point for page turning. Pages not numbered, but about 100. Numerous black and white photos illustrate the catalog. David B. Warren writes in the Introduction: The exhibition is intended to present for the first time a comprehensive showing of silver made in the south prior to 1860. We have chosen to exhibit hollowware examples when possible. We have attempted to include representative examples from each major area of production and its known craftsmen, with the hope that some sort of pattern of geographic distribution would become apparent..
