Unpaginated (40 pp.) collaborative volume from the two legendary Munich artist groups, Spur and Wir, with brief manifesto from the group comprised of 12 statements, the rest of the volume consisting almost entirely of illustrations in the form of 25 linocuts (9 in color), by a range of artists including Heino Naujoks, Reinhold Heller, Lothar Fischer, Heimrad Prem, Helmut Rieger, Hans-Peter Zimmer, Helmut Sturm, Hans Bachmayer, and Florian Köhler. In the 1960's in Munich, several collaborative works were put out by the Spur and Wir art groups, which dealt with the political and ethical implications of artistic authorship, freedom, and collectivism. Spur was formed by Prem, Fischer, Sturm, and Zimmer in 1957, after the artists originally met at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Spur was the first German art group in many years to be internationally relevant, recognized by the international cultural avant-garde. Between 1959 and 1961, Spur joined with the International Situationist group before being officially excluded in 1962 after some major divergences in opinion between the members of the two groups.
Wir was another group founded by students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. It was formed in 1959 by Köhler, Naujoks, and Rieger, with Heller and Bachmayer joining in the early 1960s. Around 1965, Spur and Wir joined forces to create the artist collective Geflecht.
