Unpaginated (circa 100 pp.) monograph on the conceptual installation artist who was involved with the Fluxus movement in Amsterdam, documenting his writings, Mail Art projects, installations, and exhibits from 1957-2005, 13 plates (12 tipped-in, some color). 4to. Bound in four-ring vinyl binder, housed in boards slipcase. Amsterdam (Tuja Books) 2005. Second enlarged edition, one of 100 copies. Brouwn was born in Paramaribo, Surinam. and moved to Amsterdam in 1957. His artist friend Armando introduced him to the Zero movement. He began creating artworks which depended on the unknowing participation of strangers and passers-by. He destroyed much of his early work, and for most of his career, he declined to give interviews, be photographed, or allow his work to be reproduced. As of April 2018, WorldCat locates six holdings of this volume in North American institutions.
