About This Item

Tokio: printed by the Hakubunsha, Ginza, Tokio: published and sold by Kelly and Walsh, 1893. Hardbound. G. Ex-library with usual marks, sticker on spine and fep. Wear to covers, including small spots in cloth/page edgings and rubbing/chipping along edges and corners. Only a very slight separation of spine on first blank page with gutter exposed, but binding remains tight. Pages are age toned with occasional excess aging along edges, but are overall clean. A few ripped bottom page edges, though not noticeable enough to detract from content. Some thin paper covers over plates have crinkles, rips, creases, other wear. Overall less than pristine but an excellent, clean volume for collectors, with the following printing flaws: plate XVII's text is inserted twice; plate XVIII is inserted twice; and plate XXV's text is inserted upside-down.. Green library buckram with gilt lettering and designs. Gilt-decorated endpapers. Unpaginated. 41 colotype plates of photographs. Supplement only. Photographs by K. Ogawa. A nice, collectible copy with a few printing flaws. 40 plates are listed, though one is mistakenly inserted twice.
