Pair of clean hardbacks tightly bound in matching black cloth with gilt titles, cloth is rubbed at corners, corners clipped from both front endpapers, and the same name on the second front endpaper, else no inscriptions. Volume 1 has viii + 344 pages, 210 figures in the text, appendix, index. Volume 2 has x + 344 pages + adverts, frontispiece, 264 figures in the text, appendices, index. Revised and enlarged editions of 'An introduction to applied optics'. Both are first editions thus, published in 1948 and 1950 respectively. .
