Tokyo: Kaishinshoro, 1911. Gilt-lettered green board binding with string tie in the Japanese manner. Front and rear endpapers creased and a little chipped at top. Front free endpaper torn with no loss. Somewhat shaken becsuse of nature of tie binding and heavy boards. Very nice copy. With book label reading "Mary Griggs Burke Garden Books". Mrs. Burke acquired the most comprehensive collection of Japan art outside Japan; hers was the first Western collection to be displayed at the Tokyo National Museum. She was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1987. A book with specific instructions on how to make a park-like garden and a survey of Japanese gardens of the Meiji period. Introduction, three photographic plates and 29 scenes and diagrams in muted colorl. Boards; String Tie. Very Good. Oblong Small Folio.
