1689 NOSTRADAMUS Prophecies Astrology Astronomy Occult Visions Prophecy RARE"From the enslaved populace, songs,
Chants and demands
While princes and lords are held captive in prisons.
These will in the future by headless idiots
Be received as divine prayers."
– Nostradamus, prediction of the French Revolution
Nostradamus, considered, perhaps, the most famous prophetical seer, has been credited with prophesying important and impactful world events such as the French Revolution, Great London Fire, and reigns of Napoleon and Hitler. Nostradamus claimed that the basis for his "Prophecies" was founded in his judgment of astrology. He was heavily criticized by astrologers for being 'incompetent,' as no one could truly predict the future.
This rare 1689 Bordeaux edition features a fine, woodcut engraving on the title page and includes over 300 Nostradamus prophecies and visions.

Description:
1624 BIBLE Biblia Sacra Tremellius Junius OT Theodore Beza NT + Apocrypha Latin In 1565, French Protestant Theodore Beza issued an edition of the Greek New Testament with the Vulgate. His translation of the New Testament would become extremely important and popular throughout Europe, especially among Calvinists. According to many scholars, Beza's interpretation of the text, along with his translation, were extremely helpful to theological scholars who came after him.
This 17th-century Biblia Sacra features the famous Beza New Testament as well as the Junius & Tremellius Old Testament Latin translation. The Tremellius-Junius Bible, an important Reformed translation, was very influential on Reformation dogmatics which helped shape Protestant theology in the 18th-century. According to Fletcher, the pairing of these two translations are often found printed together. It features the Junius Apocrypha and a preface of Andrew Marvell (Andreas Rivetus).

Description:
1671 Catacombs ROME Subterranea Aringhus & Bosio Illustrated Roman ArchaeologyAntonio Bosio, an early 17th-century Italian historian, was known as one of the leading spelunkers of his time. His searching of the catacombs of Rome lead to an incredible and highly influential book on Roman history and antiquities "Roma Sotterranea". This book contains descriptions and illustrations of Roman cemeteries and catacomb findings, artifacts, sarcophaguses, and cave wall inscriptions and murals.
Following the successes of Bosio's work, historian Paulus Aringhus published a Latin translation that proved to be just as popular as the original. This 1671 printing of Aringhus's "Roman Subeterranea" includes numerous full-page and in-text engravings and was published in Arnhem, Netherlands – a city not known for its publishing.

London: London: printed for J. Nourse, at the Lamb, opposite Katherine-Street, in the Strand, 1746. 1st Edition . Full leather. Very Good. First edition, octavo; xvi,232pp, with full complement of 34 engravings, 33 of which are folding. In contemporary unlettered full calf (a little worn with minor loss to board corners, sometime skilfully rebacked in matching leather), five raised spine bands, internally clean with only the lightest of occasional dust staining. Muller was deputy head of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, where he was instrumental to its transformation into a disciplined cadet academy. An attractive first edition example of his first work. Subsequently made Bishop of Bath and Wells from 1704 to 1727. All of Hooper's works were published anonymously. A compilation of Quarles' works. The overall title page with details of the publisher is missing, but there is a dedication to King Charles I which was clearly specially written for the work, which makes it likely that it was published in the 1630's (it makes no reference to Civil War). Each work has a separate title page or a large heading, and retains the dedications etc written when they were first published. The first text is 'A Feast for Worms' totalling 64 pages, which has a note for the Reader and has pages 13-36 misbound out of sequence. The second is Pentelogia, a short text covering pp 65-70. The third is Hadassa with a separate title page, preface to the Reader, introduction, dedication, and the History of Esther, running to p 147. The fourth is Job Militant with half title page, proposition, dedication and text running to p 231. The fifth is the History of Sampson with no title page but starting with 'To the Reader' and text to p 232. The sixth is Sion's Sonnets…
