New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1927. Hard Cover. Very Good binding/Very Good dust jacket. Later edition of Gertrude Stein's first published book; a trio of novellas from the perspective of different women, dealing with race, gender, romance, and other themes, each set in the fictional town of Bridgeport, Maryland. Written in Stein's repetitive and simple prose, a modernist style which is said to build upon itself. Text is unmarked. Red cloth with gilt lettering, over patterned cloth. Small chips and tears to the publisher's dustjacket, and sunning to the spine. Very Good binding / Very Good dust jacket.
