About This Item
Cape Town: Umuzi, , 2011. Brossura (wrappers). Ottimo (Fine). Testo in inglese e fotografie in bianco e nero di David Goldblatt (1950s+60s - Soweto 1970s - City+Suburbs 1970s - 1980s - 1990s - 2000s). 8vo (cm 27x28). pp. 316. Ottimo (Fine). . Il volume era stato pubblicato nel 2010 in una edizione combinata; "TJ/Double Negative".
Dal testo dell'Autore: "Johannesburg is a fragmented city. It is not a place of smoothly integrated parts. And it has a name that does not roll easily off the tongue. Unsurprisingly, the people of its fragments, which are severely divided by class, culture and, in particular, by race, have their own names, nicknames, elisions, diminutives, and linguistic transliterations for the place. Some of these names are carried into this book. The 'main name' is TJ, but you are unlikely to hear it on the streets or to see it in any listing. It comes from our old motorcar-licensing system".
