ALL IN DUSTWRAPPERS. 8vo, approximately 240 x 155 mm, 9½ x 6¼ inches, numerous photographic illustrations by Harry Burton (of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York), all present as listed in the plate lists, pages: xxxiii, 1-231; xxxiv, 1-277; xvi, 1-248, original publisher's cloth, gilt lettering to spines and upper covers, central gilt scarab on black background to upper covers, original decorated endpapers. Spines slightly bumped at head and tail, occasional pale foxing, Volume 1: slight lean, slight rubbing to head and tail of spine, slight crack to the rear inner paper hinge. Dustwrappers: a few repairs to edges on blank side to strengthen slight chipping, all volumes have a light handling vertical crease to spines, Volume 1: slight rubbing to centre of spine with tiny loss; Volume 3 has a small chip to head with slight loss, neatly repaired, the selling price on the spines of the first 2 volumes has been crossed out with pale blue ink, and to Volume 3 on the inner flap, otherwise a very good plus set. Volume 3 was issued 6 years after Volume 2 and the jacket is on slightly thinner paper with different lettering and colour. Dust wrappers now protected with transparent removable covering. Title, author, volume number, and publisher in gilt to spine, with title, author, and central gilt scarab to upper cover. DJ's slightly worn and very lightly soiled, minor chipping to edges with tiny amounts of loss, a few small tape repairs to reverse, but generally complete. Light stain to upper cover of volume one.
