Keyhoe writes to the Pond Lecture Bureau in New York City, having been asked by Commander Fitzhugh Green to contact the bureau about aviation lectures. "I have just returned from a month of talking in schools....I have some writing on hand and have not planned to go out on any more tours until well after the first of the year. However, I should like to know about the dates which Commander Green mentioned."

Donald Edward Keyhoe [1897-1988] was an American Marine Corps naval aviator who was obliged to retire in 1923 at the rank of Major owing to persistent trouble from an arm injured in an airplane crash in Guam the previous year. Thereafter he worked for the National Geodetic Survey and the U.S. Department of Commerce. He managed promotional tours of aviation pioneers, including Charles Lindbergh and authored many aviation articles and short stories which appeared in leading publications. Several of his stories appeared in pulp magazines such as "Weird Tales". In the 1950s he became well known as a UFO researcher. He argued that the U.S. government should conduct research into UFO matters and publish all its UFO files. He was regarded as a leader in the field of ufology in the 1950s and '60s.
