Written to Arthur Price at Sears and Roebuck, in part: "...The seasons come and go and, despite my good intentions...I find myself compelled to keep on earning money to build more barns, to house more cows, to give more milk, to help win the war. I have need of the sketches of mine that you have I think there are two, aren't there - a large one, and a little one of a boy and girl walking along. I need them for an exhibition and would appreciate very much your sending them to me..." Natural folds; staple holes in the upper left corner. Very good condition.<br/><br/>

I hope that it is not to be headed by the ex-Ambassador of whom Ambassador Dodd had such hard things to say..." Paperclip stain and impression in the upper left corner; natural folds. In part: ".There are many things in Ella Winter's article that I felt to be unfortunate. I was sorry that she had to tell on Santa Claus by proclaiming that I had circularized the whole country to send letters of congratulations to the students. Kemse Greenwood Book Shop 397 Delaware Avenue Wilmington, Delaware Kent informs a book dealer of a delay. In full: "The carrying out of the book-ends had to be postponed on account of the pressure of other work. I don't know when they will come out, but it won't be in the near future. Sincerely yours. . ." As far as we can determine, Kent never did produce any book-ends.. Signed by Author(s). No Binding. Fine.

Together with the original typed mailing envelope, stamped with a 4 cent Abraham Lincoln stamp, a "Peace" label and postmarked Keeseville, New York, October 7, 1961. To Mrs. Esther Blanc: A personal letter in which Kent discusses a friend's problem child, etc. and then goes on to express his Communist leanings. In part: ".I am touched by your expressions of regard for my work--for friends is what an artist, through his work, is seeking. But I have found them--millions of them--in the Soviet Union.". To Ned: In part: ".I wrote Charlotte [and].told here that you had informed me that she had kept my painting and assumed responsibility for completing the payments on it. And that the amount still due was $500.Sally and I have just returned from New York, where I testified for the defense in the action against the IWO [International Workers' Order]. The prosecution is just an unblushing witch-hunt. They had put several of the same stoolpigeons [sic] on the witness stand that you have become so familiar with in San Francisco."
