Near fine. <p>Brameld notes that he is writing at the ADL office because he is spending some time on Freedom Pamphlets problems. "We have just learned that you placed an order for several hundred copies of the Lindblom pamphlet. This gives us the idea that the series should be used by people in foundations work throughout the country. Would you be willing to lend me, for a few days, your list of people in foundations that you developed during your trip last winter?"<p>Theodore Brameld [1904-1987] was a leading philosopher and educator. His support for the philosophy of social reconstructionism dated from his doctoral studies in philosophy at the University of Chicago where he trained under the progressive philosopher and politician T. V. Smith. After becoming intrigued by the ideas of John Dewey, he developed his own theory that schools were the ultimate source of political and social change.<p>One of the best-known educators during the Progressive era of education, Harold Rugg (1886-1960) was a professor of education at Teachers College of Columbia University. A Civil Engineer, he had become interested in how students learn and pursued a doctorate in education. He was responsible for producing the very first series of school textbooks from 1929 until the 1940's.<p>An excellent association.
