1881 1ed Uncle Remus Songs & Sayings Joel Harris Slavery Song of South Americana

Br'er Rabbit and crew are the basis and inspiration for Disney's black folklore, controversial tale "Song of the South" and popular attraction Splash Mountain!

'Uncle Remus' by Joel C. Harris defines many of the stereotypes of the African American people, including dialect and slavery themes. Harris himself said that 'Uncle Remus' was

'a sympathetic supplement to Stowe's wonderful defense of slavery as it existed in the South. [She] attacked the possibilities of slavery with all the eloquence of genius, but the same genius painted the portrait of the Southern slave-owner and defended him.' (Bernstein, 2011).

This 1881 first edition, second printing is considered highly rare and very valuable! See edition note below.

They give an important view of Roman everyday life as well as an interesting perspective on Pliny's views against Christianity. However, the most important epistles concern Pliny's account of the Mount Vesuvius eruption. Andrew Moore's "Compendious History of the Turks" is a rare, 17th-century history of the Ottoman Empire through the mid-1600s.
