About This Item
Cambridge: Harvard University Asia Center, 2003. Scholarly biography of Ayukawa Yoshisuke (1880-1967), founder of the Nissan conglomerate, point man of the Manchuria Industrial Development Corporation, formed to exploit Japan's holdings in China, and proponent of "global prosperity and peace through economic interdependence"; after the war he supported small & medium-sized businesses, continued to solicit foreign capital, and urged the use of hydroelectric power to rebuild Japan. One of the Harvard East Asian Monograph series. The author wrote much of the book while a graduate student at the University of Chicago, and asserts Ayukawa's ideas are still relevant to U.S.-Japan relations. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Light wear to book; jacket shows a little edgewear and a few scuffs & nicks. Text clean; vii, [2], 362 pages + list of series titles; index, bibliography, notes.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Octavo.
