A few interesting, contemporary annotations in ink and pencil on blank pages (the pencil notes appear to be transcriptions of the ink notes). Some foxing especially to early pages, front hinge cracked and separating, otherwise quite good. Chewett, 1793-1862, provides a mass of official and social information in small compass. Fleming 585 - "William Lyon Mackenzie commented favourably: 'It forms a thick 12 mo pamphlet and contains a great variety of useful information' (Colonial Advocate, 26 May 1831)"; TPL 1690. Very good condition with slight fraying spine ends, usual light browning of pages, very tips lower corners rubbed, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages other than the signed inscription and author signature. Original slipcase has 1cm deep loss of cover paper at spine ends, complete cover labels (front and back) that are not chipped, some splitting along one spine edge but connections holding well.
