And from thence continued by several Prorogations to the Fifteenth Day of November, 1763, being the Third Session of the Twelfth Parliament of Great Britain." Woodcut royal coat of arms above the imprint. Woodcut historiated initial at the beginning of the act. In order to increase the supply of hemp and flax for the production of sail cloth and cordage, needed by the Royal Navy and the merchant marine, this act granted a bounty to those who brought those materials from the American colonies to England. Without publisher's advertisements found on 2 additional leaves in some copies. Former owner's armorial bookplate ("Nec Degenero") on front fixed endpaper for William Lane Joynt. Possibly the William Lane Joynt (1824-1895) who was the founder of the Limerick Athenaeum and was elected Mayor of Limerick in 1862 and Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1867. Faint name in an old hand at the head of first page of the introduction. In Good+ Condition: most of leather is lacking from both upper corners and along spine on both boards; some gilt is lacking from spine; slight loss of leather at head of spine; front joint starting to separate from each end; other than the few pencilled notations noted above, pages are clean and tight.

The 1857 edition of Jacob Abbott's The History of King Richard the First of England, part of the Abbott's Histories series. Red cloth, blindstamped on both front and back. Gilt on spine. Famed full-color frontispiece is intact, as is tipped-in protective tissue. All eighteen B&W engravings (nine plates) are intact.Spine is discolored and darker than rest of jacket, with obvious water damage that shows through the endpapers. Fraying on top spine and front jacket. Small writing on front endpaper. Pages are age tanned and have small stains.
