HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents the Complete late Nineteenth Century Boston edition of THE WAVERLY NOVELS by Sir Walter Scott. One of several editions produced by DeWolfe, Fiske and Co., this one contains all 26 of the novels in a 12-volume format, overall totaling 10,980 pages, including the original introductions, @125 woodcut illustrations plus editors' notes, appendices and indices. 5" x 7 5/8", the overall condition of the collection is Near Fine. Pages = Near Fine, only marks being prominent owner sticker in front of each volume (printed "John Venn," quite possibly the famous mathematician!?) and some staining to outer edges, very tight and sharp, no tearing, very little aging. A small paper containing a handwritten poem (by John Venn!?) is laid in one of the volumes. Covers (dark red and black embossed design, picture of author and title in gold gilt on front, publisher cartouche and particulars on spine in gold gilt) = Very Good Plus. Noted book appraiser James Beattie has assigned a value of $375 - $400 to the collection. Price is for all 12 volumes. Additional shipping charge will apply.
