Printed from the new engravings made from the original art in 1988 for the 25th Anniversary edition published by Harper & Row. Max as King of the Wild Things: the adventure is as fresh and fun as ever it was with the Sendak magic illustrations. In fine unread condition. The dustjacket sports the half-moon 40th Anniversary seal and the copyright page includes the Library of Congress catalog card number: 63-21253 "Twenty-fifth anniversary edition," and "HARPER COLLINS PUBLISHERS" all in caps, distinguishing it from the 25th Anniversary Edition and related reissues. The price $16.95 is on the top of the front dustjacket flap.

Maurice Sendak has been awarded countless awards for illustration of children's books, including the Caldecott Medal, 1964 (for Where the Wild Things Are); Hans Christian Andersen International Medal, 1970; Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, 1983; Jewish Cultural Achievement Award, 1988; National Medal of Arts, 1996. A beautiful copy and scarce signature.

Synopsis

Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short, a 1980 opera, and, in 2009, a live-action feature film adaptation. According to HarperCollins, the book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide as of 2008.
