About This Item

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1949. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8x5x0. Signed by author. First edition. Inscribed and signed by author on front flyleaf ('For Nan and Pete, Gracious hosts the world over, Jack Kahn'). 'Pete' is Julian Street, Jr. (who went by that name to differentiate himself from his father, a well-known author). This volume was acquired along with a collection of other books from Street's personal library. Jacket edges rubbed with minor loss from corners. 1949 Hard Cover. xi, [3], 238 pp. 8vo. A collection of short humorous pieces, many originally published in The New Yorker, some of which are based on the author's personal experiences (though according to the description on the dust jacket flaps it is likely he took some poetic license). Includes an introduction by Irwin Shaw.
