Pastedowns darkened, with a small stain on the front fly, else very good plus in a moderately rubbed, good dustwrapper lacking 1.25" at the foot, and with shallow loss at the crown. Brain-damaged man confesses to murder, is put in the local lunatic asylum, nurse becomes interested in his story. Basis for the classic 1947 film noir directed by Curtis Bernhardt and featuring Robert Taylor, Audrey Totter, and Herbert Marshall.

Very Good plus in a Very Good plus dust jacket. Moderate offsetting on the endpapers. Jacket is lightly rubbed and nicked at the spine ends and corners, with a shallow chip at the crown (titling not affected). In a custom green quarter-leather clamshell box.
