A monograph on the production of gold jewellery with open-work decoration, a technique known as opus interrasile, which dates from the 3rd to the 7th ce. A.D. About 600 examples of open-work jewellery from museums and collections all over the world are examined. It includes a detailed technical examination of the pieces, an analysis of the decoration and its possible symbolism, their stylistic features, as well as their classification and dating. This is followed by a catalogue of the objects arranged by categories, in which details of their origin, dimensions and dating are provided as well as brief descriptions, bibliographical references, photographs and drawings.

Se analizan mas de 600 muestras de joyas perforadas que se conservan en museos y colecciones de todo el mundo. Se incluye un detallado examen tecnico de las joyas, analisis de la decoracion y sus posibles simbolismos, las caracteristicas estilisticas, asi como su clasificacion y cronologia. Sigue un catalogo de las piezas articulado por categoria de la joya, donde se ofrecen datos de su procedencia, dimensiones, datacion, breves descripciones y bibliografia, asi como sus fotografias y dibujos.
