Fifty-eight magnificent illustration plates by Alfred Paris, eight of them in full color. Ornately bound in red cloth with elaborate floral designs in black and gold. All page edges gilt. Very Good, binding tight, sound, and square, corners sharp, text clean, crisp and bright. Brief inscription in a neat hand on half-title page dated Jan. 1, 1906. Spine lightly sunned. Page-edge gilding brilliant. Text in French. A wonderful book.

Frontispiece illustration plate by Walter S. Rogers. Eight-page promotional catalog at the back of the book lists individual titles for each of eight of the publisher’s juvenile adventure series, including all Bomba titles up to #16 ("Bomba The Jungle Boy And The Wild Chieftain"), thus suggesting a publication date of 1934. Very Good Plus. A clean, bright copy in superior, undamaged condition. Previous owner neat name in small hand on front end paper. No dust jacket.

Published to encourage the wholesome play of children, which forms an important part of their development and education. Charmingly illustrated with twelve photos and artists’ works depicting nineteenth century children at play. Very Good, in orange card wraps with white polka dot pattern. Small previous owner address label on verso of the front wrap, tiny pinhole in center of title page, inside front hinge reinforcement, aged, but resilient. Quite rare, with only one other copy on record at the Strong National Museum Of Play in Rochester, NY.

Marvelously illustrated with seventy-five b&w engravings of exotic creatures and places, the majority full-page. Bound in red cloth with gilt titles and elaborate board decorations. Text in French. Very Good, clean, binding tight, sound, and square, corners sharp, no ownership signatures or any other markings of any kind. The impressed gilt of the spine titles has faded. A beautiful edition of an inspirational classic.

Western novel for juveniles by California cowboy/ writer/ rancher Chuck Martin, who was much beloved for teaching young people how to ride, rope, shoot, and care for horses and dogs at his "Boot Hill Ranch" near Oceanside. Illustrated by Jay Hyde Barnum. Nicely inscribed and signed in year of publication by the author on the front free end paper. Laid in are a publisher’s promotional bulletin for Martin’s upcoming book "Monsters of Old Los Angeles," and a newspaper clipping with a captioned photo of Martin at work at his typewriter. Two of Martin’s early books were adapted for shoot ‘em up Westerns, directed by and starring popular Western screen idol Buck Jones. Very Good Plus, in a Very Good dust jacket that has a small surface chip at the lower right corner of the front panel.
