Included here are the eight plates of The Rake's Progress which portray the reckless life of 'Tom Rakewell', the son of a wealthy merchant who squanders his fortune and ends up in the madhouse. 4to, 2 vols: iv, 142pp [4], iv, 280pp, steel engraved plates, with frontispiece portrait of the artist in each volume. Later red cloth binding with gilt titles on black leather spine labels. Marriage a la Mode series (Vol II) is LACKING one of the six plates in the series; some damp staining at four plates in Vol II.
