In this collection of reolutions and laws passed by Alabama's General Assembly, "the Legislature by Joint Resolution ratifies the Thirteenth Amendment --barring slavery-- and the Fourteenth Amwendment --according citizenship to Negroes and prohibiting state actions which deny due process of law and the equal protection of the laws. A rarity in the mid to late 19th century world of the literature of Reconstruction.

The 1974 1st (and probably only) edition of this uncommon examination of African-American contributions and conflicts throughout American history. Really more a religious textbook than anything else, with "Discussion Questions" and "Worship and Bible Study" suggestions at the end of each chapter. This copy crisp and solid in its pictorial wrappers, with just a touch of light soiling and scuffing to the rear panel.

New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1896. Decorative Cloth. Very Good. The 1986 1st edition of Paul Laurence Dunbar's 1st comercially published book, this slim collection of 105 of his poems. A solid, very presentable copy to boot. Tight and VG+ in its gilt-decorated and gilt-titled green cloth, with light spotting and a bit of scuffing at the panels. Internally, foxing at the front free endpaper (and its verso) and the front pastedown, otherwise very clean. 16mo, top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. The front cover though, which shows chipping along its edges, is still presentable and boasts a haunting, iconic Danny Lyon photo (which is why we've chosen to keep it as an important addition to the book).
