Collectible; Fine. A "Son of Sam" (David Berkowitz) early 21st century archive, including 9 signed typed letters to high-powered African-American literary agent Larry Jordan, who represented Berkowitz in 2004-05. Together they were trying to craft and package a new autobiography called "Son of Hope", showcasing Berkowitz's "born again" views. The letters are 8 1/2" x 11" and are in excellent condition, with clear, bold David Berkowitz ink signatures. Also included are 5 original envelopes with Berkowitz's return prison address (and cell #) and hundreds of letters written to "Son of Sam" at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

Clean and VG+ in its pebbled, dark-green cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the front panel and spine. Light bowing at the boards, 2 thin strips of newspaper (along with original handwriting) attached at the rear endpapers. Octavo, filled with charts accounting for diseases, deaths, meteorological registers, etc. Fascinating slice of pre-Civil War New York.

Brooklyn: The Corporation (The Brooklyn Health Derpartment), 1897. Cloth. Near Fine. Uncommon 1897 1st printing of the 1895 annual report of Brooklyn's Department of Health. Clean and surprisingly well-preserved in its russet cloth. Solid and Near Fine, with bright gilt-titling at the front panel and no writing or markings of any kind internally. Thick octavo, dozens of half-tone photos, a number of fold-out maps and charts as well.

Tight and VG in its light-green boards, with decorative blindstamping to the panels and bright gilt-titling at the spine. Very light rubbing along the bottom-edges, mild foxing and offsetting to the preliminaries. Thick octavo, "fourteen quarto plates and eighty engravings on wood" complementing E.G. Squier's text. Both vols. VG+ in their dark green cloth with gilt-design and lettering on the spine. Both volumes thick octavos, 934 pgs. all told. The binding of Vol. 1 a little tender but still sturdy and well-preserved.

Thick octavo, 779 pgs. Small, tasteful old bookseller stamp to front free endpaper, otherwise very clean.

New York: The De Leeuw Riehl Publishing Company, 1910. Pictorial wrappers. Very Good. A bright, very presentable copy of this 1910 photographic history of the great boulevard of New York, Broadway. Attempting to photograph every building on Broadway from Bowling Green at the southern tip of Manhattan up to the southern opening of Central Park at 59th St., this is clearly an ambitious undertaking, especially for its time, created and published by Rudolph M. De Leeuw. Light creasing to the front panel, 2 small strips of clear tape neatly applied at the spine ends as reinforcement, along with clean adhesive strengthening at both inner hinges. Wonderful local, period ads generously interspersed throughout. Thick, oblong quarto in its pictorial wrappers, 504 pgs., hundreds of crisp, skillful black-and-white photos plus a number of engravings at the rear. A nice piece of turn-of-the-century New York architectural history.

Solid and VG+ (light spotting at the fore-edge and bottom-edge) in a crisp, price-intact, VG dustjacket, with mild chipping and creasing --and several small closed tears-- along the panel edges. Brooklyn, NY: Brooklyn Life Publishing Company. Decorative Cloth. Collectible; Very Good. 3 nicely-bound folio volumes of the weekly "Brooklyn Life". Each volume collects half a year's worth of issues: Vol. I: Sept. 1901-Feb. 1902; Vol. II: March-August 1904; and Vol.III: Sept. 1917-Feb. 1918. Undoubtedly the most thorough weekly accounting of all things Brooklyn (and Long Island), the newspaper has a wonderful local focus and consists of business advertising, photographs and cartoons thruout, not to mention the most detailed reporting on Brooklyn's growing financial industry, real estate, the school scene, sports, weddings, etc. A gamut of turn-of-the-century Brooklyn life, painstakingly documented. All 3 volumes have held up nicely as well and are solidly-bound and VG, in their russet cloth (with light-blue spine labels) over marbled boards. Clean and VG+ (minor, inconspicuous tear at the rear inner hinge) in its navy-blue cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the front panel and lovely gilt-bordered advertisement ("Cadillac: Standard of the World") adorning the rear panel. 12mo, wonderful local ads (several even with splashes of color) at the front and rear of the text. A nice piece of early 20th century New York history and --by extension-- a nice piece of Americana.

A charming tribute to Cass Gilbert's masterpiece, also known as the tallest building in the world at that time.
