The programme has paper wrappers, measuring 113mm x 254mm folded once, with colour lithograph to the front, blue print on the verso of the front wrap and recto and verso of the back. Enclosed in the wrappers is a silk version of the invitation, with matching print and illustration that is on the recto of the front wrap; invitation has tassel edges on the top and bottom and is in fine condition without any staining or wear to the fabric. A touch of edgewear to the wrapper, mostly along the top edge. A scarce item in near fine condition. Niagara Falls: Express Mail Lines of American Steamers and Railroads, 1851. Advertisement for the Lake Ontario Express Mail Lines, measuring 310 x 140mm, with black print and a square map showing the routes around Lake Ontario on recto side only. Ink notations along the right side of the map and some words have been underlined. Some edge wear and closed tears along the edges, with a 1" chip to the top edge. Faint fold lines. In very good condition overall, especially given its age. This advertisement shows the routes from: "Niagara Falls to Montreal and Boston via Lake Ontario and River St. Lawrence and Northern Rail Roads, and From Niagara Falls to Albany, Troy and New York via Rochester Oswego and Syracuse". The captains, times and prices are all listed as well for the year 1851 and was printed at the "Iris Office" in Niagara Falls. 1851

Minimal wear and creasing near edges. A fantastic poster in very good condition. Dramatic Poster advertising a 1923 short comedy film starring Lige Conley and Louise Fazenda. Fazenda was a gawky, highly popular slapstick funny girl silent film star of the time who starred in several silent shorts and full length films. She started as a Mack Sennett Bathing Beauty. Some of her movie roles include: the Old Maid, A Dream Comes True, and Ever Since Eve. Poster depicts a fantastic image of a maid holding a candle stick. A man in black looks as though he is about to grab her. The expressions on each face are comedically extreme. A great old film poster! 1923

Modern maroon cloth binding with a Morocco title label on the spine to match; gold gilt lettering stamped to the spine label. Faint rubbing along the edges of the boards and to the corners. Some transfer staining from what appeared to be a brown paper bag onto pages 22 and 23--stain measures about 1.5"x 1". Overall, textblock is clean and tight. Numerous black-and-white illustrations in text. An attractive copy. A very concise reference for wine connoisseurs, this book encompasses a variety of subjects including the manufacturing of wine, European wine (French being far superior), the East, Africa, and America. The first English book that dealt with modern wines. It was very successful and went on to be published in two more editions, 1836 and 1851 respectively. 1833

Two faint horizontal fold lines, otherwise near fine condition. The Montreal Telegraph Company was the first Canadian telegraph company of significance. n 1847, early telegraph pioneer Orrin S. Wood was recruited to be president of the company, which rapidly established telegraph lines to Toronto and Quebec City from Montreal, and then New York by August 1847. The company's operations grew to 1,900 miles of line during the 1850s, and to 12,400 miles of line by 1870. Wood had technical expertise, but was not an established businessman in Canada, so Hugh Allan became president in 1852, and Wood continued as superintendent.
