Author's diaries during his military service in Sudan and in his prison for 14 years there. The author is an Egyptian leader and historian was born in Cairo where he was graduated from the military school during the dynasty of Ismail Pasha, the vice roy of Egypt. According to the order of Gordon Pasha, he led the army to the equatorial territories in Sudan, then employed as a director of Bahr al Ghazal, then a director of the new equatorial territories in 1877. He returned back to Cairo and took place in the revolt of Ahmad Orabi Pasha.
