It is printed on Goatskin Parchment and signed and numbered by the Elizabethan scholar and author S. Schoenbaum. The spine and corners are bound in an exclusive Pinseal grained rich brown Morocco leather, ornamented with genuine 22 carat gold stampings. The spine has raised bands, gold title and banding. The sides are covered with a complementary light brown buckram with Shakespeare's facsimile signature and coat of arms stamped in gold; the edges are gilt on all sides and inside are French marbled end papers with a tissue guard in between, both in the front and in the back of the book. Printed and published by John Ascham of Holborn, London, and sold by James Pattie of Bloomsbury , and all booksellers in town and country, in two Volumes, 1834. Engraved portrait frontispiece of Shelley separated from the title page by tissue, in Volume 1. Preface by Mary W. Shelley in London, June 1st, 1824. Volume I has 424pp and Volume II has 580 pp. An unauthorized edition, this was the first collection of Shelley's poems to be published as there was no previous publication of his collected works. The first authorized edition of Shelley's collected works was published in 1839. These volumes were hand bound by the famous Bayntun bindery of Bath, England in the early part of the 20th century. Fine oxblood colored leather binding with gilt borders, spines decoratively ruled and lettered in gilt, five raised bands, all edges gilding and marbled endpapers.
