Description:
Blue boards with black border and lettering, decorative flourish on spine. Colour frontispiece. 248 pages. Presumably the 1943 edition. An adventure tale for young adult readers in which two 17 year olds set sail to find fortune in the South Seas. The author was a journalist and a prolific writer of imaginative boys' stories, creating 'lost civilisation' stores and pioneering science fiction tales. The story was originally published in 1914, but this edition, although undated, may have been printed during the 1930's or in 1943.This volume has been well read. There is wear and soiling to cover, and the spine is creased and folded at top and bottom edges. Front board loose and torn away from inside of book to 5cm depth. Tear to paper inside back board (2 cm). All pages are intact and free from annotations. Tanning to page edges and water stain on outside top edges. Inscription on front flyleaf "to Norme from Don, a Merry Xmas".In reasonable condition given its age, it has plenty of enjoyment still to offer.
